Our sorting process in plain view: metal, e-waste, cardboard, wood and donations kept out of the landfill wherever possible.
Hauling is half the job. The other half is deciding where it goes. We sort as we load, because the goal is to put as little as possible into a landfill. Metal, electronics, cardboard, clean wood and usable goods each have a better destination.
Not everything can be recycled or donated, and we say so plainly. Mixed loads, contaminated materials and worn-out items still need proper disposal. But a surprising amount of what leaves a home can be reused, recycled or turned into something else.
Metal goes to scrap recyclers, electronics to e-waste processors, cardboard and paper to paper recyclers, clean wood to mulching and reuse, and usable goods to donation partners. The remainder goes to the proper disposal site.
Sorting at the source. Loading a truck in the order that keeps materials apart makes a big difference. Our crews are trained to keep categories separated as they load.
Some items are hard to recycle, such as mixed materials, treated wood, certain plastics and heavily contaminated goods. We do not promise a diversion rate. We try, and we tell you what happened.
You can help by keeping materials separated before we arrive, by pulling out donation items and by asking us to carry recyclables out first. A small amount of prep makes a big difference.
