Decide what is going
Walk the space and mark what stays. Sticky notes or painter's tape work well. If you are not sure about an item, put it in a maybe pile and decide before the crew arrives.
Clear the path
Move cars from the driveway, open gates and clear a path from the items to the truck. Remove rugs that can trip a crew and move fragile decor out of the way.
Protect valuables
Take jewelry, papers, keys, medication and small valuables out of the work area. Check pockets, drawers and the insides of furniture before it leaves.
Set aside special items
Paint, fuel, batteries and chemicals are not accepted in regular loads. Put them in one spot so they do not get mixed with the rest.
Empty and defrost
Empty refrigerators and freezers a day ahead and let them defrost. Empty dressers and cabinets so they are lighter and safer to carry.
Take photos
A few photos help us quote and confirm the scope. Take pictures of the items, the access path and any stairs.
Mark what stays, clear the path and keep valuables and hazardous items out of the pile.
